What We Do:

The most essential and the most important part of the Gate City Club, however, is the total membership since it takes the effort of every member to achieve and maintain the high standards of this organization.

The Gate City Club meets every Monday (except certain holidays) at The Painted Plate, 2001 North Church Street (see directions below).

12:00 - 12:30 Lunch
12:30 - 12:45 Business and Announcements
12:45 - 1:15 Program

The Board of Directors meets the last Monday of each month immediately after the regular club meeting. All members are invited to attend. Board meetings qualify for meeting make-ups. Members are urged to become involved in club projects and to attend club meetings on a regular basis.

For Monday meetings that fall on a holiday, instead of meeting on that Monday, members are invited to meet at noon on Tuesday at Swensen's Ice Cream in Friendly Shopping Center. Save your receipt and give it to Joe Albright for reimbursement, up to $8.25. This Tuesday lunch will count as a make-up meeting, as will attending any other Kiwinas Club meeting. These extra meetings will help members earn "Perfect Attendance" awards.

Club dues are $125.00 per quarter which includes the cost of the meal at each meeting. There is also a one-time initiation fee of $50.00. Members are encouraged to contribute at least $200 per year to the Kiwanis Foundation to fund our annual projects (this annual contribution is in lieu of having members conduct fundraisers), and occasionally to special projects adopted by the Board of Directors to support the activities of the Club. Past Special Projects include a Habitat for Humanity House and a sizable contribution to the Greensboro Children's Museum.

The Gate City Club is a very distinguished and proud organization having received many awards and honors. The Gate City Club is also a very active club and some of the more recent organizations and special projects are listed below:

  • Habitat for Humanity

Where We Get Our Funds:

Dues: $125.00 per quarter which covers meals, administrative expenses, a subscription to Kiwanis Magazine, and International dues. There is also a one time initiation fee of $50.00.

Fund-raising: Our local board approves an annual fund drive among members to obtain voluntary tax-deductible pledges to the Gate City Kiwanis Foundation which supports our community services. Members are encouraged to contribute at least $200 per year (this annual contribution is in lieu of having members conduct fundraisers), and occasionally to special projects adopted by the Board of Directors to support the activities of the Club. Past Special Projects include a Habitat for Humanity House and a sizable contribution to the Greensboro Children's Museum.
